Throughout Kshatriyakund and its surroundings, King Nandivardhan's officials announced, "Our prince Vardhmankumar is giving away everything. Come and take whatever you need.”Surprised by these announcements, people flocked to the designated area. When asked about the sudden generosity, they were told that the prince intended to take diksha after a year, renouncing all worldly possessions.

This act of relinquishing wealth continued for the entire year, attracting people from distant places who were delighted to receive gold coins from Vardhmankumar. They were content to see the serenity and detachment reflected on his face. Needy individuals were especially grateful for the assistance. Finally, on Kartik Vad 10 (the 10th day of the dark half of the 1st lunar month), with the moon once again aligning with the Uttarphalguni nakshatra, King Nandivardhan organized a grand procession.

Vardhmankumar departed from the palace, where he had spent 30 years of his life, in a palanquin named "Chandra Prabha." Once he left, he never looked back. The procession halted at a vast garden called "Gnyat Khand" outside the city. Descending from the palanquin, Vardhmankumar removed all his jewelry and costly garments and manually removed all the hair from his head, mustache, and beard—a process known as "loch." At that moment, Indra draped a divine cloth over Vardhmankumar's shoulders. Then, Vardhmankumar bowed to the souls who had attained liberation (moksha) and, as part of the initiation, accepted the five great vows. With that, he embarked on a profound spiritual journey, beyond the imagination of an ordinary person—the journey of a monk
